I am a mosaic artist living in Victoria, BC Canada. I believe everyone is creative and should have a way to express their creativity. I create art to allow that creative energy to flow and to share my experiences with others. Working in mosaics provides a sense of wonder and mystery. I’m often amazed at how all these small pieces fit together to make something whole and beautiful.
For me creating mosaics is a peaceful and almost meditative process of combining the materials together, to discover what becomes of these pieces and how laying the next piece beside it can either create something pleasing or disorderly. The mosaic process is frustrating at times but it is also very rewarding once completed.
My inspiration comes from my interest and fascination with other cultures, costumes, and traditions and also from dreams or visions. I read many personal stories and books about women’s issues and what life is like for women in different cultures and am often inspired by stories of women overcoming great obstacles and the courage they show in difficult circumstances. Reading these stories has inspired me to donate 10% of all my direct mosaic sales to charities that help protect the rights of women and girls.
